"The ultimate freedom for creative groups is the freedom to experiment with new ideas. Some skeptics insist innovation is expensive. In the long run, innovation is cheap. Mediocrity is expensive—and autonomy is the antidote."

- Tom Kelley, General Manager, IDEO

Wednesday, February 8, 2012
8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (AM, PM & All-day sessions available)
Sheraton Ann Arbor

We live in an interconnected world of dizzying speed, exponential complexity and seemingly endless cost cutting. Prior strategies for maintaining world-class excellence are obsolete. In this new era, U-M leaders know that practical innovation and creativity are crucial for success, especially when you are pressed for time, money and staff.

The speakers at this year’s conference, from diverse backgrounds and experiences, will show you how to apply everyday creativity to solving daily problems and issues. They understand that today’s problems won’t be solved with yesterday’s solutions. They will help you understand why every person in your organization must move from a “reactive” mindset, where problem solving takes time, money and personnel, to a lean environment’s “creative” mindset.

AM Keynote: Josh Linkner
The New Currency of Academic Success: Creativity and InnovationJosh Linkner

Yesterday’s Tools Won’t Solve Today’s Problems: Using Practical CreativityDr. Jim Geiger

The final keynote is sure to be one of the highlights of the conference as Dr. Jim Geiger, Executive Director of the Medical Innovation Center, joins Josh and Richard to discuss how and why innovation is crucial to you as a U-M manager.
